Flickerfest 2011 - 4 weeks left to enter!

Flickerfest, Australia’s only Academy® Award accredited and BAFTA recognised Short Film festival, and its largest short film competition, is accepting entries from around the world, for the 2011 Festival, celebrating 20 years of the best short films from around the world.  Flickerfest will screen for 10 days at Bondi Beach in January 2011 before heading off on a national tour..

For 2011, the Festival will have five competitive programmes
  • International
  • Australian
  • Documentary
  • GreenFlicks – for films with an environmental focus or theme – open to films from anywhere in any genre.
  • Flickerup- Open to school age film makers from across Australia – in any genre
As well as a number of special showcases and forums out of competition.

The FLICKERFEST International Competition is open to any short film available for screening on 35mm. The Australian, Documentary, GreenFlicks and Flickerup Competitions are open to any short film available for screening on 35mm, Betacam video.   

An international jury will award the following prestigious awards and prizes:
  • The Flickerfest Award for Best Short Film (Academy® Accredited)
  • Yoram Gross Award For Best Animation Short Film (Academy® Accredited)
  • Flickerfest Award for Best Australian Short Film
  • National Geographic Award for Best Short Documentary Film
  • Icebergs Dining Room and Bar Award for Best Direction in an Australian short film
plus a host of other Awards and Industry prizes
 
Films must be under 35 minutes & have been completed within 2 years of the closing dates.
 
Films must be in English or have English subtitles. Due to the competitive nature of the Festival, Flickerfest prefers NSW premieres and films that have not been broadcast or made available for download in Australia.
 
ENTRY DEADLINES:
Australian entries must be received by 5pm, FRIDAY 17th SEPTEMBER 2010
International entries must be received by 5pm, FRIDAY 17th SEPTEMBER 2010
Flickerup School Shorts and Greenflicks environmental shorts must be received by Friday 22nd of October
