10/08/2010 1:37:25 PM
As we move ever deeper into 2010, we move ever closer to the close of
ratings for the 2010 IF Awards. So, with the end approaching it’s time
to show us your cinematic palette. Express your dislike, declare your
indifference, or voice your delight for this year’s Aussie filmmaking
talent.
MOVIES:
Matching Jack – August 19
August 19 sees the release of Nadia Tass’ first feature film in more than 12 years - Matching Jack.
Starring Jacinda Barrett, Richard Roxburgh and James Nesbitt. Matching
Jack tells the story of an inner-urban Melbourne family whose life is
turned upside down when their young son Jack is diagnosed with
leukemia, and his father’s years of infidelity come to light. As the
illness takes hold, a desperate mother searches for possible siblings
from her husband’s affairs – children who may hold the key to curing
her son.
Matching Jack is eligible for the 2010 Inside Film Awards. Once you’ve seen it, don’t forget to rate it!
The Nothing Men – August 12
In limited release this month from August 12 is The Nothing Men,
starring Colin Friels, Martin Dingle Wall and David Field. As a
hardened crew of factory workers struggle to see out the last two weeks
before their redundancy windfalls, panic runs through the ranks with
the arrival of a mysterious man sent to join them. Suddenly fearful
that their drinking and gambling will be exposed by the head-office
“spy” and rob them of their money, the men descend into a compelling
world of antagonism and brutality.
The Nothing Men is eligible for the 2010 Inside Film Awards. Once you’ve seen it, don’t forget to rate it!
Other Aussie films still in cinemas this August include South Solitary, The Waiting City and Animal Kingdom.
DVD’s
Jeremy Hartley Sims’ Beneath Hill 60
will be released on DVD and Blu Ray on August 19 – just in time for
Father’s Day. Based on an extraordinary true story, Beneath Hill 60
tells the story of a special regiment of Australian WWI soldiers on the
Western Front. Their secret mission was to dig a tunnel deep beneath
German lines and set off the biggest explosion the world had ever seen
at that time.
